Do you see what the problems are, yet you still feel stuck?

Together we can help you transform that awareness into change.

Therapy can be a deeply powerful, intimate, and even strange experience. I prioritize creating a trusting and attentive therapy relationship that enables you to speak your mind freely, be heard, and understood; one that is also playful, authentic, and non-judgmental. In this space, we will work together to help you start putting words to confusing, shameful, or hard-to-express feelings or difficult past experiences. Together we will help you get unstuck from patterns that are holding you back.

Breaking patterns can look like: finding healthier ways of coping with stress, learning to ask for what you need in relationships, or developing self esteem and confidence instead of a cycle of guilt and shame.

In our work together, I will listen and ask questions that encourage you to reflect more deeply on your emotions, thoughts, and experiences. At the same time, I will try to stay attuned to what may feel difficult or not yet possible to say. So often, clients have issues related not just to difficult experiences in the past, but also fear or judgment about letting themselves face “not okay” feelings. My hope is that together we can find ways for you to experience a broader and deeper range of feeling, making space for all of who you are. Together, we can help you get unstuck from patterns that are holding you back.

***

I support college students, adolescents 18 and up, and adults across the lifespan experiencing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, as well as trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and those questioning with their use of drugs or alcohol. I am also experienced at helping people navigating life transitions, struggling with overwhelming feelings, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of behaviors they feel are no longer working for them.

I help my clients develop tools, communicate more effectively, clarify their needs, unlearn old unhelpful beliefs about themselves, and get unstuck from painful patterns. Together we will look at your past to understand what you’re still hanging onto that you’d like to let go of.

My background & approach

I’m trained in Psychodynamic Therapy, DBT, and harm reduction frameworks, and integrate these modalities based on each client’s needs. This means I can help you understand links between the past and present, while also helping you develop skills for coping and emotional regulation as you engage in therapy. Clients would describe my therapy approach as calm, patient and accepting, and with good boundaries.

As a therapist, I welcome people who are making sense of intersecting and marginalized identities, and I work to practice in ways that are anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and non-pathologizing. I try not to align with normative expectations of success. I’m affirming of diverse sexualities, gender identifications, kink practices, and ways of being in relationship with others.

I also enjoy working with artists, writers, musicians, and those in involved in other creative passions and pursuits.

It can be scary reaching out to a new therapist! I look forward to hearing from you so that we can talk about your hopes for therapy and how I can help.
